At the heart of Studio Artizana are the artisans shaping the future of Moroccan pottery.
How it all started
Founded by Khalid Jardani and Christine Gialamatzi, our journey was guided by a deep appreciation for Moroccan craft. While sourcing unique, handcrafted pieces, we found ourselves intrigued by the world of clay. This curiosity led us to pottery studios across Morocco, where we connected with artisans and learned more about this centuries-old tradition.
Behind the craft
Through our visits and conversations with artisans, we began to understand the reality behind Moroccan pottery. High volumes and low prices put pressure on those who keep generations of knowledge alive. Without long-term stability, sustaining a livelihood through craft becomes increasingly difficult, putting the future of this tradition at risk.
A different way
We searched for studios working differently, but couldn't find one that truly aligned with our vision. So we decided to build it from the ground up. Not just a pottery studio, but a different way of working so artisans can thrive through their craft and Moroccan pottery can continue to evolve.
Studio Artizana Today
Today, Studio Artizana is an independent pottery studio. Every piece is designed and handcrafted by us, exclusively for Studio Artizana. We bring traditional Moroccan pottery into new forms through our own designs and glazes, while keeping the knowledge of our artisans at the heart of what we do.
